mission statement reserch

Wow. Im really feeling the energy in this group! The facebook group is buzzin with news and suggestions. (personaly get email notifications when comments are made on facebook and my inbox is filling up fast!)  I encourage everyone to read Brandon's post all the way through. Lots of good info in there to keep us from rehashing old topics and keep us moving forward. I know it has only been a few days since the last meeting, but if we can keep this level of involvement up we may be going places.  And as a total side note/deviation... if there is anyone out there that you know that is still fighting the good fight and not a member of facebook but wants to get the info from the group let me know and i can repost the important messages that people are delivering to this location. I just don't want to be super redundant. (but a little bit is okay...).
As i was reading Brandon's post there was a section where he talked about some of the comments made:
"Some of the other comments made were: The desire for a social atmosphere; A larger or stronger voice in the community and with Dive shops in general; A closer Dive community and awareness; Bringing new divers into the dive community; A group for visiting divers from outside the area to hook up with, for both social and location awareness reasons; and “To Bullshit”."
Inside this paragraph i though i saw a few gems that we could possibly expand upon to utilize in the mission statement...(minus the "To Bullshit" I personal feel it sums up a lot of what we do, but not sure how that will go over with the grant committees) And since brainstorming on ideas for the mission statement was part of everyone's homework this month i though it was relevant to repeat it. Also I did a little google searching on dive club mission statements and was slightly underwelmed about what was out there... I think we can do better. But, The Windy City Seals dive club had a pretty good one... and i really liked some of there ideas. "creating a network of people and resources to provide educational opportunities  that enhance  and promote the overall experience of diving" "...building unity and comroderi that can be passed to future generations of divers" ...stuff about the environment... all very good stuff. I would encourage other people to look around at other dive clubs mission statements... so much of this is finding just the right adjective or key phrases to explain ourselves clearly and professional. Allah knows im no good at professional, so a little research is good for me.
Happy Diving!
